where stuff is :)

okey dokey

on the file server eveything is marked. I was going to put my essay onto my webpage but didnt get around to doing it.

there is a folder there called website tests. that is just basically ideas of what i was going to do my webpage on before i actually chose an idea.

the tetris game was really fun and easy to make... and it has its own folder on the server as well..

Hope everything is easy enough to find...

last task

Write about what you have learned over the semester and how it has changed your understanding and use of web and software technologies.-------------this semester has been very full on. This subject especially i felt becuase there was so much to learn in such a small frame of time. i felt that i had to teach myself a lot and i found being disiplined enough to do that was difficult. i feel that the content of this subject was good and very relevant and feel i am taking away a lot of information that i can take into the workforce. I think that the topic of my essay was very interesting and i throughly enjoyed researching it. my final webpage i found a bit of a struggle but i managed to get through it.. my favourite part is the animated gif on the left hand side of the page. it is a picture of a normal mans face that slowly fades and then comes back as a cyborg. I made this gif in adobe image ready by taking two pictures and tweening them in 80 frames it took a lot of experiementing but i knew that it would eventually have to work so i played around with the number of frames and the opacity of colour and it worked..

3. How might you use this blog after the course. .------------I intend to use a blog after this course to help me with my writing technique and to get me started in journalism. I found that a lot of journalist use blogs to voice their true oppinion about certain subjects and i think that to write this way gives the reader a more rounded and better informed decision on certain subjects.

notes week 11 essay notes

i have been finishing off all my artworks this week and putting them into designated folders and onto the file server... a problem i have realised is that my sizing is all out i find that when you open up the gifs and web pages on the live wirez website the files take up the whole screen... i have found though if you right click and use the open in a new window option it will some up in normal size?? ?will have to find out why this is...........

i have a few more thoughts on my essay as well this week

i did some research and found a scientist called Kevin warwick who is a university lecturer at reading university in England?? Anyway he seems to think that in the future it will be feasable to become one with the computer. To study his research more throughly he embedded a microchip into his arm for 9 days back in 1998 and found that whenever he was on campus in his university and with radar of his main computer he could turn lights on make doors open and was always able to be tracked. he said that when the chip was removed 9 days later he flet as though a friend had died.. If future humans are planted with this chip and live with it in their nerve systems forever would you be able to create a program that could be downloaded to sick people?

Essay

My essay is going to be about human bionics not so much cyborgs but how we can use electrodes and things like that to fix ourselves, for example people with parkinsons and epilepsy. l am hopefully going to incorporate my essay into my webpage and build my webpage around my research.. lm finding this essay a bit of a challenge as im finding it hard explaining complex situations and research into simple sentences. but lm really finding it interesting and am learning a lot. I want to be a Cyborg.!!!

the layout for my webpage is going to be mostly made in flash with approx 5-6 tabs to click on. it will then go to various images of new technology i found in my research.. one of the tabs you will be able to view my essay.

week 9 flash

write about using flash...the challenege and fun of using this new technology...

Flash i found was so so so much better than dreamweaver. you can make funky animations that require little effort if you know what you are doing. You can make games using flash that are effective for websites. today i went to kirupa.com and followed some tutoirals i learnt how to make the text flash, move across the screen and how to make buttons. i went home and played with the aplications more and found that i could incorporate sounds into the buttons when i rolled over pushed or ran my cursour over it.. i also discovered how to make a hyperlink. i thought that using flash was a challenge but the end result is more effective then using any other application that i have seen. when i researched different sites for inspiration for my final website I found that my favourite ones incorporated flash as the maiin tool used on there site. i researched mostly lounge bars clubs and fassion houses. one in particular really stood out and this was www.jeanswest.com.au it incorporated a virtual changeroom which included a maniquin and a rack of clothes that you can mix and match to help you find a style and a price range that suits you. this is a simple technique to sat your website apart from competitors and to help the consumer save time when shopping....

I really want to get good at using flash because i think it makes your website look better makes it more interactive. i also think going for a job and knowing flash would give you an edge over other people.

notes week 8 dreamweaver

dreamweaver: this was the most frustrating one yet.!!!!!!! the tables really made it hard to put pictures where you want. my picture sizes were constantly out which met the table sizes were always wrong. Making the three links really gave me a headache because they worked when i was in dreamweaver but when i put them on the file server it wouldnt work and i couldnt figure out why.. this problem drove me insane. i found out however that the problem was in the link box, i had to delete the uneeded crazy crap. its amazing to find that not knowing one tiny detail such as deleting a pathway can lead to hours of headache... after this experience i bought a book on flash and am currently reading it from cover to cover.

NOTES:
Meta- data helps the search engines find what there looking for. metadata has been understood as “Data about Data

an example of two way communication is msn, yahoo chat, and bullitin boards.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT B4 YOU START WHEN MAKING A WEBPAGE .

good ideas to include in your webpage: forums, fan bases, email adress contact.
research - gather content - find your target niche - (who will look at) what is your messsage your trying to get accross? create a map - link it to other pages? incorporate games (it brings people back) make a guess book.

if you have a boring hyperlink topic use a rollover graphic where when you roll over it with your mouse the page or link does something cool...

consider the speed of your page if your using flash or there is a lot of content

if your trying to sell an idea use lots of graphics.

good webpage to look at (donniedarko.com) this website is selling the movie it makes you inquisitive and makes you want to go see the movie which is bascially the aim of the webpage.

mouse followrers are a quick way to add graphics...

unmoderated websites
anyone can write whatever they want

moderatd websites
get scaned to make sure nothings explicit

to stop spam getting in your website email addess

Email - spam filter, make new users fill out a registration form, turn it into a graphic before you post it. instead of writing your email address like this brooke@yahoo.com you could write brookeatyahoo.com

dynamic drive.com week8

look at this website..

www.dynamicdrive.com and then you are going to click and look at everything...and then (again) you are going to write about how you could change, alter, modify and make the things you find there your own...pick six and write about them.....about what they could be used for on your pages....

Dynamicdrive.com

This website was very good to get ideas for the website that i am making, it has so many cool ideas and little extras that you can add to your website to give it an edge... things like scrolling toolbars, text animation, calenders scrollers and little mouse followers... most of the extras are pretty dodgy and would probabally make your webpage look cheaps or tacky like one of those web sites that contain heaps of pop ups (and doesnt everyone hate them!!!) which could distract or iritate the user but some are awsome the following ones are my top 6

Image on Mouseover Effects ----> Here..Spotlight effect.. This one is different i have never seen it on a webpage before. its basically a dark page but your mouse cursor acts like a torch..whenever you move it arounf the page it lights up what you are trying to look at.. this function could be good if your webpage was like a maze, or you wanted it to be a bit challenging for the user. it would be a good effect as a game feature as well...... to make this feature my own i could change of modify the colour of the screen for example if i didnt want it to be black i could change it to pink. or some sort of other bright colour. To get the feature on your webpage as far as i know all you need to do is copy the style sheet coding and paste it into your own coding next to where it says head and then copy the rest of the coding to where it says Body on your own page... it seems pretty straight forward and its cool that its so easy to copy and paste...

Image on mouse over effects--->here...highlight image script.
this graphic is basically dull pictures but when you run your mouse cursor over them they trun really bright .. this would be good to use if you had lots of icons to click on but didnt want your page to look cramped.. i would make this my own by copying the coding and modifying the graphics to words or links that needed to be clicked on....

The dynamic calender... This one would useful if you had a website where you needed to plan something. For example a travel agent website or Virginblue... this calender is easy to use and has features to let you jump forward and back a month... i could modify this into my own website by changing the colours and adding special days of the year.... for example if i was a travel agent i could show peak seasons for certain coutries at different time of the year using differnt colours or by having mulitple calenders for each country...

Text animator:: This one is basically like credits that play at the end of a movie.. it starts boldly at the bottom and fades to the top. it works quite effectivly and could almost be mistaken for the star wars introduction.. To modify and make your own you could add your name or information you wanted displayed like a mission statement or something and have it playing at the intorduction to your website instead of having a countdown or something.. again the colours could be changed to make it look different...

3d spinning message: this one grabs your attenetion because it takes over the whole screen and then text spins around over the content of the webpage like a different layer...its transperent which is good and doesnt last to long which is good becuase it would get annoying pretty quick.. i think its a good attention grabber but wouldnt be to useful otherwise..

the Matrix text effect this one was my favourite so i left it to last... the MATRIX effect.. everyone is familiar with the falling green letters that make up the matrix... this could be incorporated and modified again with different colours.. but you could also make it so th letters can be hitting something and making sentences that relate to what the webpage is about...
